This is great for Etsy but.....

....maybe not so great for the artist who created this work. This article was in my local newspaper this past weekend and it was about remodeling your home. Under the photo of this lovely artwork it said "Etsy art perks up walls but won't break the bank" -- no mention of who the artwork is from. So is this a good thing or a bad thing or a 'not such a big deal' kind of thing? I mean it's great for Etsy that they mention the site, but it may not bring a sale to this particular artist, but it may for another. So what are your thoughts on this, would it bother you at all to have your work show up in an ad with no mention of your shop?

Going back to the beginning

I have been going through some of my favorite Etsy shops from when I first joined Etsy a couple of years ago and here are a few things I found, so many great shops on Etsy, too many to mention on one blog in a lifetime!

Dirty Car Art

Scott Wade's dirty car art -- who says you can't be creative just about anywhere? It is better than the old "wash me" on a dirty car, hey?

Artfull Bras Project

My aunt sent me this information about these handmade bras and I absolutely fell in love with them and wanted to share them with my readers. These bras were made for the Artfull Bras Project which consists of members of a group called the Quilters of South Carolina who have created one-of-a-kind bras for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Love and Peace, Liz Florom

Look at them Melons, Bev Buchanan

Trick or Treat, Judy Twitty

Support your Favorite Boob, Kathy Hauser

Carolyn's Garden, Sue Spillane

Hooters, Sherry Sadler

Sports Bra, Angela Faulkenberry

Monkey Business, Anita Bowen

The exhibit tours South Carolina until October 2009 where at the end the bras will be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to the Best Chance Network, a program that provides care and treatment to uninsured women across the state who have been diagnosed with breast and ovarian cancer. All I have to say is the members of 'Quilters of South Carolina' -- you rock!

Cat Photography

Our featured Etsy Blogger this month is Donna Pool and her shop is full of cute buttons, magnets and keychains, but what caught my eye was her wonderful cat photography. I love black and white photography and I love animals so these were my favorite picks from her shop. Stop by and visit Donna Pool on Etsy or at her blog.

It's All In The Eyes

The eyes do say so much in art and these beautiful pieces are wonderful examples of just how much they do express a feeling! The eyes in each of these artworks set off their own unique emotion. Do you enjoy the eyes in artwork; do they speak to you?

Afghan Hound Art Tile

Afghan Hound Art Tile

The art tile depicts an Afghan Hound and is once again available in my shop NanjoDogz. The art tile is hand-sculpted from a beautiful aqua blue/green polymer clay, etched and washed with a light green paint to give it an aged appearance. At the top center of the tile is a large blue Swarovski crystal charm. The pendant hangs from two bails on either side of the tile. This tile can either be hung on the wall or worn as a pendant.

Size is approximate:
3" long top to bottom
1-1/2" wide

MerandaTurbak

China Hat
I love the artist MerandaTurbak, her paintings have a eerie beauty to them. They are at the same time oh so beautiful and oh so haunting with some deep, internal meaning to them that for me when I look at them cuts down to my soul. They captivate me to where I want to turn away, but I find myself staring longer getting deeply fixated on the piece.

Her shop has fine art originals and prints available. For a good read, go to her profile and read her bio where she explains the creative process to her artwork. Check her out!

soopajdelux

Naughty or Nice (print on canvas cloth)
I love soopajdelux and all the prints in the shop! These little girls have a cuteness with a sad sweetness to them. I can't quite put my finger on how to explain them, but I know I like them. How would you describe these girls? As you browse through this shop you will get more of a feel for her artwork, one thing I know for sure is I've never seen anything like it, there is a uniqueness to her pieces and these little girls seem to draw you into their world and give you pause as to the situations they find themselves in.

Fine Art Prints

Gotcha
I love these bright, whimsical art prints by Gudonya. The colors are amazing and the critters, well who doesn't love the critters. This kitty print is especially cute -- this kitty has caught himself a mouse -- he's such a good little hunter, you just might want to bring him home to do some hunting around your house.

The What?

Catfish SnipPet

The Snippets of course -- and what exactly is a SnipPet?
A snip~pet is...
1-PET art created with SNIPS of paper, paint and clay.
2-a PET that has been spayed or neutered...the kindest SNIP of all!

And that is how the Snippets shop describes these wonderful, whimsical creations. I love mixed media and absolutely adore polymer clay so the all of these mediums mixed together makes for a wonderful piece of art!

SweetB Studio

Never Leaf You Alone Card

This SweetB Studio is full of sweet drawings that seem to come alive and jump out from the page. The artwork is very personalized and the artist does glorious things with each letter. The artwork as a whole is full of wonderful stories, but it's in all the little details of this artwork that surprise and delight. This shop has prints and greeting cards and many of the art pieces can be personalized with names, dates and other details.
