Saying Goodbye to Edie

Edie was my sister's Golden Retriever. She was 14 years old and she passed away quietly yesterday, Sunday 10.10.10 at home with all of us around her. She was much loved and will be missed terribly. She is now with her buddy, my pup Lena, who passed away not even four months ago. Here they are together in life and I know they are together again in heaven! Love you two!

Goodbye to my Lena

Well, it was that time, the time I know we all dread, time to let my Lena go. My heart is broken and I miss her so. My stepdaughter made a little goodbye poem for her below and I made an angel vial with a lock of her in it to keep her near me. I also added a stick, three pink hearts, her name and some glitter along with a large set of angel wings on the back. I keep it in my car because she was always with me no matter where I went, Lena was always with me -- and in my heart she still is and always will be.

Her paw prints are still visible, and her little black hairs are too, her leash may still be on the table, as well as treats all brand new, the rug might be a little sloppy or a bit out of place, because thats the way she liked it, somewhere comfy to lay her face, and the door is left cracked, a little bit for her to get through, so Lena can come in the middle of the nite, and lay right next to you, her water bowl is still full, and her yellow ball is still here, now that Lena is no longer with us, doesn't mean her soul isn't near, the past years with her has been a lot of fun, she had a great life, and now her work here is done, happy to see her make it to age eleven, we will never forget you Lena, enjoy your new home in doggy heaven.

Lena and Halloween

Halloween is approaching, do you do any decorating? This is the question posed from the Etsy Bloggers Street Team for October. Well, I don't really do much decorating, but my stepdaughter just loves to decorate Lena. She loves to dress up the poor dog - and really it doesn't have to be Halloween. The top two photos below though are from Halloween in year's past, but the bottom one was a 'just because' dress up day -- she didn't have anything else to dress up Lena with and she loves to put things on my poor girl. These are just a few gifts I have received over the years that were given to me by family and friends who know how much I love my Lena. I have plenty more sculptures, pendants and various other Doberman Pinscher pieces that were given to me by various family member and friends -- they know where my heart lies. I am always thrilled to receive a gift from the people who know me the best and give me gifts that are given from the heart.
