Scott Wade's dirty car art -- who says you can't be creative just about anywhere? It is better than the old "wash me" on a dirty car, hey?

What made you open an Etsy shop?
This is our blog carnival question -- what made you open an Etsy shop? What do you like about being a seller on Etsy and what don't you like?
I first decided to open my shop when I heard about Etsy through word of mouth and was intrigued about selling at a site where everything was handmade. The idea definitely appealed to me and since I used to sell on E-Bay with their outrageous selling fees I decided to give Etsy a try and haven't looked back. I completely stopped selling on E-Bay and although I may decide in the future to put a few listings on E-Bay, I have nothing planned. I love Etsy for the most part and I love the community and teams I've joined.
What I don't like about Etsy is their search function, it's pretty bad, when I do a search for something the strangest things come up, things that I haven't asked for nor am I looking for. The other thing I don't like is that sometimes the threads in Etsy forums can get pretty mean-spirited so I tend to stay away from them for the most part. I mean don't get me wrong there are a lot of nice, lovely posts in the forums, but every once in a while out of the blue -- wow - bam -- someone can just get slammed for asking an innocent question, but I guess that's not unique to Etsy.
Well, that's my likes and don't likes, what are yours? What made you sell on Etsy and what do you like about it and not like?

Pigs, Ducks and Frogs
Pigs, Ducks and Frogs Bead Set
Here is one of my bead sets. I've been making these critters for a while now and although I almost always make dog related sculptures, every now and then I like to do something different and this is the outcome, more critters.
As you can see I'm looking into spring, I am getting really sick of winter and it's showing in my mood, I'm looking forward to nicer weather and the bright colors that come with it!

Single Black Female
This has to be one of the best singles ads ever printed. It is reported to have been listed in the Atlanta Journal.
SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire.Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Call (404) 875-6420 and ask for Daisy, I'll be waiting....

Dogs at Your Wedding?
Well, not exactly. A long time customer of mine told me that she was getting married and although her dogs couldn't be there in person, the couple wanted them to be a part of their wedding day so she asked for a cake topper made of her pups and here is the outcome. They have two Bloodhounds and her mother-in-law has a Beagle so the Bloodhounds were the Mr. and Mrs. and the Beagle was the minister. I was really happy with the piece and since I like mixed media, I added pearls around the bride, a crystal bookmark in the book and two tiny rings for the bride and groom -- what do you think?

Artfull Bras Project
My aunt sent me this information about these handmade bras and I absolutely fell in love with them and wanted to share them with my readers. These bras were made for the Artfull Bras Project which consists of members of a group called the Quilters of South Carolina who have created one-of-a-kind bras for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Love and Peace, Liz Florom
Look at them Melons, Bev Buchanan
Trick or Treat, Judy Twitty
Support your Favorite Boob, Kathy Hauser
Carolyn's Garden, Sue Spillane
Hooters, Sherry Sadler
Sports Bra, Angela Faulkenberry
Monkey Business, Anita Bowen
The exhibit tours South Carolina until October 2009 where at the end the bras will be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to the Best Chance Network, a program that provides care and treatment to uninsured women across the state who have been diagnosed with breast and ovarian cancer. All I have to say is the members of 'Quilters of South Carolina' -- you rock!

Cat Photography
Our featured Etsy Blogger this month is Donna Pool and her shop is full of cute buttons, magnets and keychains, but what caught my eye was her wonderful cat photography. I love black and white photography and I love animals so these were my favorite picks from her shop. Stop by and visit Donna Pool on Etsy or at her blog.

Chihuahua in Purse Pendant
Someone recently contacted me to do a custom order of her Chihuahua/Terrier mix in her purse. She carries her little baby in her purse all the time and wanted it replicated in a pendant so here it is, her puppa in a purse handmade from polymer clay and painted in acrylic paints. The hardest part was figuring out how to put the dog in there, how to position the purse and handles so that it would hang properly at the bail.

What's wrong with Jessica?
I mean really what's wrong with Jessica Simpson and her body? I think she looks beautiful. I don't get the fuss everyone makes about weight, it really aggravates me at times. I mean when I look at this picture I see a happy, healthy, beautiful woman. The nasty comments that have been going around lately about her really shows how shallow people can be. When I was younger I struggled to stay a size 3 and now that I'm older it's just not that serious. And so while processing my frustration I've decided to check out some plus size fashion and found some lovely pieces to share with everyone.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals
No matter how you choose to show your support for a team, here's hoping you have a Super Bowl Sunday filled with fun, family and friends! I know we will, we are a football family who love the sport and never miss a Super Bowl and since the Bears are not in it, I'm not partial to any team coming out the winner, I just hope it's a good game.
