Divorce

Divorce is such a difficult thing to have to go through. At the moment my sister is going through a terrible divorce and it is affecting the whole family, me included being that I'm her sister and that she counts on me for a lot of things and when she's hurting so am I, but I am concerned about the children, they are hurting so much. My sister's children are all teenagers and young adults and people seem to say "at least they're not little kids, they're older now" -- like teens can handle it better and I think just the opposite. At least when kids are young they have time to adjust to things after a divorce, they're not so "used" to having both parents around; when they are teens they are already going through so much turmoil in their heads that a divorce just exacerbates their young lives. I mean divorce for children at any age is not a good thing, but I'm thinking being a teenager and going through that is much harder. Have you been through a divorce? How and when did you start to heal from it? And how did the kids take it? I'd really love to hear your experiences.
