I came across a delightful Etsy shop circlesareforever, a shop full of bright and cheerful bottle cap art. Each one of these little caps are painstakingly hand painted or covered in fabric or a combination of both. There is quite a variety of designs and bottle caps to choose from including magnets, buttons, thumb tacks, pins and more. Now I've never tried painting on such a small piece myself, but I would imagine that it is quite a challenge and what a better way to create such beautiful little pieces of art and recycle at the same time -- love it!
